PNST Fellowship (Post-graduate study on Nano-Satellite Technologies) is a flagship program launched by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) together with the Government of Japan and Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech). It is part of the Access to Space for All initiative, aimed primarily at students from developing countries and non-space-faring nations.
This program provides outstanding post-graduate students (Master’s or PhD) the chance to conduct advanced research in nano-satellite systems using cutting-edge facilities at Kyutech. The goal is to build capacity in space technology across nations, helping fellows return to their home countries with the skills to advance their national space ecosystems.
Fellowship Benefits
Fellows selected for the PNST Fellowship receive a fully supported financial and research package that includes:
- A MEXT research scholarship grant of approximately 144,000 JPY per month covering living expenses, housing, local transportation, and related costs for the full duration (2 or 3 years).
- Tuition, matriculation, and entrance exam fees covered by Kyutech.
- Return economy air ticket from the fellow’s home country to Japan (as designated by MEXT).
- Access to Kyutech’s nano-satellite development and testing facilities, laboratory infrastructure, and mentorship.
- Enrollment in the Space Engineering International Course (SEIC) after passing the official entrance exam.
- Opportunity to earn a Master’s degree (2 years) or PhD degree (3 years) in nano-satellite technology.
