Hatfield Lioness Postgraduate Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship for female students from developing countries who wish to study for a master’s degree at Durham University, UK. This scholarship was established in 2018 to celebrate 30 years of women students at Hatfield College. It is funded by alumni, friends of the college, and other supporters who believe in giving talented women the opportunity to access higher education.
This scholarship aims to support a high-achieving female student who has strong academic and personal qualities. The selected scholar will not only benefit from a master’s degree at Durham but will also serve as a positive ambassador for her country. After completing the programme, she is expected to use her knowledge and skills to improve her home community.
Scholarship Benefits
The Hatfield Lioness Postgraduate Scholarship provides full financial support to the selected scholar. It covers tuition fees, living expenses, and travel costs to ensure the student can focus on their studies without financial stress.
- Full tuition fees paid for the entire master’s programme.
- Living allowance (stipend) to cover daily expenses.
- Fully funded accommodation at Hatfield College (either self-catered or fully catered).
- One return economy flight from the home country to the UK.
- Cost of UK visa and UK health surcharge fully covered.
- Settling-in allowance provided upon arrival in the UK.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Hatfield Lioness Postgraduate Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- You must have an unconditional offer for a master’s programme at Durham University by June 2025.
- You must not be receiving any other scholarship for postgraduate studies.
- You must be a woman or identify as a woman.
- You must be a citizen of one of the eligible developing countries (listed below).
- You must have a bachelor’s degree that qualifies you for a master’s programme.
- You must meet the English language requirements for your chosen course.
- You must not already hold a master’s degree.
- You must not have the financial means to study in the UK without this scholarship.
