Qatar University Scholarship
Qatar University Scholarship – Qatar University offers scholarships to applicants from outside Qatar who wish to study at the university. These scholarships provide various benefits and are sponsored by Qatar University. The scholarship package includes:
Tuition and Textbook Fee Exemption: Selected applicants will be exempted from paying tuition fees and textbook fees for their academic program.
Monthly Salary: Scholarship recipients will receive a monthly salary (500 QR monthly) to support their living expenses during their studies at Qatar University.
University Accommodation: Students who meet the university’s criteria will be provided with free accommodation (two students per room) on campus, including meals and transportation to and from Qatar University.
Annual Round Trip Airfare Ticket: Once a year, eligible students will be granted a round-trip airline ticket from Doha to the nearest town in their home country.
Applicants from outside Qatar can apply directly to Qatar University to be considered for these scholarships. Successful candidates will enjoy these benefits throughout their academic journey at the university.
High School Certificate: Applicants must possess a high school certificate or its equivalent.
High School Average: A minimum high school average of 95% is required.
University Acceptance: Applicants must receive final acceptance into Qatar University.
College Admission Requirements: The applicant must meet the admission requirements of the college they applied to.
Scholarship Utilization: The scholarship should be utilized starting from the awarded semester. Postponement of the study start is possible for one semester, subject to approval by the scholarship committee. If the student fails the first semester, the scholarship will be canceled, and the student will be notified via QU email.
Good Reputation: Applicants must have a good reputation.
No Concurrent Sponsorships: Applicants should not receive simultaneous benefits from this scholarship and any other sponsorship or scholarship.
Additional Considerations: The scholarship committee may also take into account the applicant’s scores in standardized English tests (IELTS or TOEFL) and mathematics tests (SAT, ACT, QU Math Placer), or other selected test scores.
Renewal Requirements
To be able to renew this scholarship, Recipients must meet the following requirement:
Minimum GPA: Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0.
Course Completion: Students must successfully complete a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.
Continuous Registration: Students must remain continuously registered (in Fall and Spring semesters) until graduation.
Graduation Timeline: The student should not exceed the designated period for graduation according to their study plan.
Academic Regulations: Scholarship recipients must adhere to Qatar University’s academic regulations, policies, and procedures.
General Conditions: Recipients must abide by the general conditions to retain the scholarship.
Applicants who are new to Qatar University or have completed fewer than 24 credit hours at another university fall under the category of First Year applicants. These applicants can apply for admission to Qatar University as either Foundation Program or Undergraduate applicants. They have the option to apply for admission in either the Fall or Spring semester. It is important to note that First Year admits are not eligible for transfer credit consideration for any coursework completed prior to their semester of admission to Qatar University.
High School Requirements:
All applicants must complete a minimum of 12 years of formal education, with certified transcripts. Minimum high school grade requirements are subject to change based on applicant pool and college capacity. Additional requirements may be set by individual colleges.
Admission Requirements for Different Educational Systems:
Grade Point Average (GPA) System:
- High school diploma in a General Studies Curriculum with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 on a 4.00 scale.
- Passed at least six different subjects, including one science, one mathematics, and one English Language course during the Junior or Senior year.
- For Scientific Track certification, two science subjects and one mathematics subject with a minimum grade of 2.00 are required.
British Secondary School System:
- Earned at least five IGCSE (O Level) subjects with a minimum grade of “D or 3”.
- Minimum of two subjects at the Advanced (A) or (AS) level, or a combination of (A) and (AS) level subjects with a minimum grade of “D or 3”.
- Predicted grades can be submitted for Provisional Admission.
- For Scientific Track certification, two science subjects and one mathematics subject with a minimum grade of “C or 4” are required.
International Baccalaureate (IB) System:
- Completion of the full IB Diploma with at least two subjects at the Higher Level (HL) and four subjects at the Standard Level (SL).
- Total grade point score of 24 out of 42, excluding grades for Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Extended Essay.
- Predicted grades can be submitted for Provisional Admission.
- For Science Track certification, two science courses and one mathematics course are required, with specific grade requirements for HL subjects.
KSA School System:
- Applicants from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia must pass the National Exam for Assessment in Higher Education with the minimum percentage required by their chosen major/program.
Other School Systems for Private and International School Certificates:
- Evaluation of each certificate and determination of the appropriate track (Arts/Science).
- Completion of at least two science courses (Biology, Physics, Chemistry) and one mathematics course may be required for Science track eligibility.
- Submission of previous grade certificates may be requested if not clearly indicated in the final high school certificate.
Provisional Admission:
- In-progress applicants from the British Secondary School and IB systems will be considered for Provisional Admission based on predicted grades.
- Applicants must submit all application requirements and predicted grades by the admission application deadline.
- Predicted grades must be reported and attested by the applicant’s high school using the provided forms.
- For British Secondary School applicants, official results for completed IGCSE, AS, and A-Level exams, along with anticipated final grades, may fulfill the minimum admission requirements.
- Admissions Department will evaluate predicted grades to determine if the minimum admission requirements are met.
- Provisional Admission is conditional and based on anticipated grades, with final admission contingent upon submission of official results.
- Provisional admits must submit final and official transcripts by the deadline.
- If final results meet admission requirements but are not strong enough for the chosen college, applicants may be contacted to change their college.
- Provisional admits who fail to meet minimum high school requirements will have their admission rescinded.
- Graduates from other high school systems with results released after the submission deadline cannot be considered for admission and should apply for the next semester instead.
Competency Requirements
In order to be considered for undergraduate admission to Qatar University, applicants to certain colleges must demonstrate proficiency in English and Mathematics.
The English competency requirement can be fulfilled by obtaining a minimum score of 61 or above on the TOEFL iBT, or a score of 5.5 or above on the IELTS.
For Mathematics competency, applicants can be fully exempted by achieving a score of 24 or higher on the ACT, 550 or higher on the old version of the SAT (General Math component), 570 or higher on the new version of the SAT (General Math component), or 235 or higher on the Math Placement Test.
Applicants who do not meet these competency requirements may be considered for admission to the Foundation Program and will need to pass English and Math courses with a grade of 70% or higher in order to enroll in their chosen undergraduate program.
High School Required Documents:
- Online Admissions Application with an e-payment of QR 200 (non-refundable)
- Upload of necessary documents, including photographs, valid ID cards, and Qatari parent or spouse documents if applicable.
- Submission of high school transcripts, health certificates, and official test score reports (if required).
- International students must send original high school transcripts and follow additional visa application procedures.
Note: Failure to submit required documents may result in the non-consideration of the admission application.
