Shandong University Scholarship – The purpose of Shandong University Scholarship for Outstanding International Students (hereinafter refers to SDU Scholarship) is to financially support new outstanding international students for pursuing their degree programs at SDU. Every year, a number of outstanding undergraduates, masters and doctoral students are selected as winners.
There are two types of scholarships:
- Full scholarship: Full scholarship covers tuition, living allowance, accommodation and comprehensive medical insurance.
- Partial scholarship covers tuition and comprehensive medical insurance.
1. General Criteria:
- Applicants must be citizens of countries other than the People’s Republic of China.
- Applicants must be in good mental and physical health.
2. Degree and Age Requirements:
For Bachelor Programs:
- Hold a high school graduate or equivalent qualification.
- Be under the age of 25 at the time of application.
For Master Programs:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification.
- Be under the age of 35 at the time of application.
For Doctoral Programs:
- Hold a Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification.
- Be under the age of 40 at the time of application.
3. Academic Excellence:
- Applicants must demonstrate excellent academic performance.
- Strong scientific research skills are required.
4. Scholarship Restrictions:
- Applicants cannot receive any other scholarship funded by the Chinese government during the period of the SDU Scholarship.
5. Language Proficiency Requirements:
For Programs Taught in Chinese:
- Bachelor Programs: HSK 4 with a score of 210 or above.
- Master Programs: HSK 5 with a score of 180 or above.
- Doctoral Programs: HSK 6 with a score of 180 or above.
For Programs Taught in English:
Native English speakers are exempt from providing English language certification.
Non-native English speakers must provide one of the following:
- IELTS: 6.0 or above.
- TOEFL: 80 points or above (SDU’s DI code: C296).
- MyBest Scores: 80 points or above.
- Essentials Test: 8 points or above.
- Equivalent certificates of English proficiency.
Applicants who obtained their highest degree in an institution with English as the primary language of instruction:
- Must not provide IELTS/TOEFL scores.
- Must submit a signed and stamped letter from the institution stating the entire program was delivered in English.
I. Eligibility and Submission:
- Eligible applicants should access the SDU Online Application System for International Students (http://www.apply.sdu.edu.cn) to complete the application process.
- The electronic Application Form for the Shandong University Scholarship for Outstanding International Students must be completed in either Chinese or English.
- The signed application form should be scanned and uploaded to the system; paper applications sent by post are not required. Refer to the specific application instructions for additional requirements.
Note:
- Applicants must provide all requested application materials as outlined in the instructions, ensuring the authenticity of submitted documents. Incomplete or fraudulent applications will be rejected.
- Contact information provided by applicants should be accurate and accessible.
II. Application Result:
- The final results will be announced no later than August 1st, 2024.
- Scholarship awardees will receive notification via email. Applicants are encouraged to check the status on the SDU Online Application System for International Students.
III. Additional Information:
1. Registration:
- Scholarship winners must complete registration on time.
- Failure to register or obtain approval for a later registration will be considered as giving up admission, resulting in the cancellation of the scholarship.
2. Fees and Annual Review:
- Scholarship students are required to pay all fees promptly.
- Participation in an annual review is mandatory, and those who fail the assessment may face suspension or annulment of their scholarship.
- Adherence to the annual review regulations is essential; please ensure compliance within the specified time frame.
