KNB Scholarship

KNB Scholarship- Kemitraan Negara Berkembang Scholarship, popularly known as KNB Scholarship, is a financial assistance offered by the Indonesian Government to prospective international students coming from developing countries to pursue their degree (Bachelor, Master or Doctorate Degree) at one of the universities in Indonesia

KNB Scholarship

List of benefits given to new students upon their arrival in Indonesia are:

  1. A Settlement Allowance will be given to new students upon their arrival in Indonesia.
  2. Tuition Fee in BIPA Program and Academic Program as long as duration of scholarship.
  3. During BIPA and Academic Prorgam, the KNB students will receive living allowance monthly upon their arrival in Indonesia as long as KNB students living in Indonesia during their duration scholarship.
  4. During BIPA and Academic Prorgam, the KNB students will receive research and book allowance monthly upon their arrival in Indonesia during their duration scholarship.
  5. A health insurance.
  6. Funding for Publishing Scientific Article.
  7. Provide economy class airline ticket for arrival from the international airport of the student’s home countries to Indonesia, including local transport to the host university. And provide economy class airline ticket for returning to student’s home countries inlucidng local transport from host university to international airport Indonesia after the students is declared to have graduated.

Please note that a program completion is not necessarily graduation or a commencement ceremony. Return Ticket will be booked by host university, the student must apply for Exit Permit Only (EPO), as well as book the ticket. 

  8. Please be advised that the KNB Scholarship is calculated to support the KNB Student costs only. There is no provision for dependents or family. KNB Students are advised not to bring dependents or family to Indonesia. The KNB Scholarship provides no financial or pastoral support for dependents or family and will not endorse the visa application of, nor provide travel for dependents.

NOTE

  • This scholarship is offered by the Indonesian Government to international students from developing countries who wish to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate studies in Indonesia.
  • The scholarship covers tuition fees, living allowance, health insurance, and airfare.
  • To be eligible, students must have a good academic record and be proficient in English.
  • The application deadline is usually in March or April each year.

Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor Degree

  1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 21 years old.
  2. Hold a High School degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa). Please be advised that Bachelor degree holder is not eligible to apply for the Bachelor Degree scholarship.
  3. Have the English Proficiency Test Score as follows: TOEFL ITP of 477, TOEFL IBT of 53, IELTS of 5.5, TOEIC of 510 (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 Years). Participants of foreign nationality who come from English-speaking countries, or participants from a university who are enrolled in programs in English (stated in participant diploma/transcript), do not require to submit the English proficiency document, by attaching official proof from their home university.
  4. Provide the recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General.
  5. Provide a recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from The employer/immediate supervisor in English or Bahasa (if working).
  6. Provide Academic Recommendation Letter from previous schools in English or Bahasa.
  7. Provide Academic Certificate and Academic Transcript of Highschool Degree in English or Bahasa.
  8. Prove of citizenship by submit Official Passport, which is still valid for at least 2 years again.
  9. Complete the online application form in https://knb.kemdikbud.go.id 

Note: Please be advised that document (2), (5), (6), and (7) must be in English or Bahasa

Master Degree

  1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 35 years old.
  2. Hold a Bachelor degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa). Please be advised that Master degree holder is not eligible to apply for the Master Degree scholarship.
  3. Have the English Proficiency Test Score as follows: TOEFL ITP of 500, TOEFL IBT of 61,  IELTS of 6.0, TOEIC of 575   (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 Years). Participants of foreign nationality who come from English-speaking countries, or participants from a university who are enrolled in programs in English (stated in participant diploma/transcript), do not require to submit the English proficiency document, by attaching official proof from their home university.
  4. Provide the recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General.
  5. Provide a recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from The employer/immediate supervisor in English or Bahasa (if working).
  6. Provide   Academic Recommendation Letter from previous schools in English or Bahasa.
  7. Provide Academic Certificate and Academic Transcript of Bachelor Degree in English or Bahasa.
  8. Prove of citizenship by submit Official Passport, which is still valid for at least 2 years again.

Doctoral Degree

  1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 40 years old.
  2. Hold a Master degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa). Please be advised that Doctorate degree holder is not eligible to apply for the Doctorate Degree scholarship.
  3. Obtain a recommendation letter in English or Bahasa from the potential research supervisor in one of the universities providing partners of the KNB Scholarsip.
  4. Provide a statement of purpose that at least states the purpose of their studies, the origin of their interest in studying in Indonesia and pursuing their chose research topic and their plan for the academic future (dissertation proposal) in English or Bahasa.
  5. Have the English Proficiency Test Score as follows: TOEFL ITP of 530, TOEFL IBT of 71,  IELTS of 6.0, TOEIC of 640   (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 Years). Participants of foreign nationality who come from English-speaking countries, or participants from a university who are enrolled in programs in English (stated in participant diploma/transcript), do not require to submit the English proficiency document, by attaching official proof from their home university.
  6. Provide the recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General.
  7. Provide a recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from The employer/immediate supervisor in English or Bahasa (if working).
  8. Provide   Academic Recommendation Letter from previous schools in English or Bahasa.
  9. Provide Academic Certificate and Academic Transcript of Master Degree in English or Bahasa.
  10. Prove of citizenship by submit Official Passport, which is still valid for at least 2 years again.

Application Procedure

  1. Download the KNB Scholarship Offering Letter from the KNB Scholarship website: https://knb.kemdikbud.go.id/
  2. Submit the Offering Letter, Official Passport, English Proficiency Test, (Applicant from non-English-Speaking Countries), Recommendation Letter from Indonesian Embassy, Recommendation from Employer/Immediate Supervisor, Academic Recommendation Letter from Previous Schools, Academic Certificates and Academic Transcripts from Previous Degree, Recommendation Letter from the potential research supervisor in one of the Universities providing partner of the KNB Scholarship (for Doctoral applicant only), Statement of purpose of their studies in Indonesia (for Doctoral applicant only) in website KNB Scholarship;
  3. Complete the online application process.
  4. Selection process.
  5. The Selection Results will be broadcasted online through the KNB Scholarship Website and officially announced through the Indonesian Embassy publication network.

Selection Criteria

Applications are reviewed by a committee of Indonesian government officials and academics. The selection process is based on academic merit, potential for success in the chosen field of study, and commitment to development in the applicant’s home country.

Duration

The duration of the scholarship is correlated to the duration of the academic program. The Indonesian Language Course and Master Preparatory Program has a maximum duration of 12 months. The Doctorate Program has a maximum duration of 48 months (8 semesters). The Master Program has a maximum duration of 24 months (4 semesters). The Bachelor Program has a maximum duration of 48 months (8 semesters).

Deadline

The application  deadline is 23 February 2024
